Art Class Day 18

I hope you are having fun experimenting with texture this week.  Tomorrow is officially our last day of art class.  Today I have been making some decorations for our art exhibition.  I am really trying to be creative and keep to a small budget and I am happy with how it is coming together.  Here is a balloon centerpiece that I made today.  Balloons really incorporate a lot of color and that is what I am going for.  I bought a bag of 75 balloons at Target for $2 and then I put them on balloon sticks which were .15 cents each.  It was a lot cheaper then blowing them up with helium.  Luckily my boys are great at blowing up balloons, they were very helpful today!

*Today's art history lesson on Van Gogh and the tutorial of the sunflower painting project were only available online for a limited time.  To have your own personal copy of all of all 35 class projects you can purchase the Intro to Art Class PDF and it will be emailed to you immediately after your purchase.  To find out more click here.

  1. Van Gogh is my favorite artist. I can't wait to share this with my daughter.

  2. I love Van Gogh! There is nothing quite like standing in front of one of his paintings and experiencing the texture of his work. Amazing! This is such a fun project for kids to experience texture first hand!

  3. I have a question: I bought the PDF and have been following along a little when you post new stuff. (I'm planning to do these projects with my kids during the summer). I was wondering if all the art history lessons are also in the PDF? (I breifly looked at them when I got them, but didn't remember checking for this.)

  4. Wow, I can't believe this was the last week! Thanks again.
Just wanted to let you know I am attempting to send an email with pictures right now. Not sure why you had never received the previous emails. My email address is kewkew34@yahoo.com
Thought maybe that would help you find it if they've been going to your spam.
    Hope you get them.
    Blessings

  5. Wow! LOVE this! Can't wait to do it with my girls! Van Gogh sunflowers are one of my favorites! Which brings to mind my other favorite...Monet's waterlilies...and a question! I was wondering if you have any great ideas to go along with it. If so, I'd love to see you post it in the next couple months! Our local museum has reunited all 3 panels of Monet's water lily triptych for the summer and I'd love to do a neat project with the girls before or after we go see it. Also, I love the bright balloon bouquet! Where did you find the balloon sticks?

  6. Your son's is beautiful! I'm wondering what kind of paper you typically use for your watercolor projects to avoid the puckering paper. You mentioned canvas paper at one point...where do you get yours?

  7. Did you use 12 inch rounds balloons for Balloons on the sticks?
