Chevron Print Crazy

Hello wonderful readers!  I think it is about time that I post!  During the last few weeks I felt like I should step away from my blog and focus on other's things..... our busy soccer/t-ball season, my anniversary (8 years), and just playing with my kids and celebrating their birthdays.  Also, I have been working on my own paintings.  Utah's Studio 5 asked me to come back on their show and demonstrate how to make a simple chevron print painting.  So I have been a little chevron print crazy and I made 3 different paintings before going on the show.  You can see my segment on Studio 5 here, they put my step-by-step tutorial there as well.  Check it out if you are interested in learning how to make one.

Summer is almost upon us and I have been surprised and thrilled that many people have purchased my Intro to Art Class PDF in the last few weeks.  I love that many of you want to give your kids opportunities to create art this summer.  Thank you so much for your purchases.  I have also been so amazed as I have received emails from parents who recently finished the Intro to Art Class with their children and held exhibition nights!  Seeing the pictures of the exhibitions has meant so much to me, you have no idea!

During the last few weeks I have also been organizing my own ideas of things to do with my children this summer.  I want the summer to be filled with lots of lazy days..... swimming, bike rides, picnics, parks.....  I do not want to over-pack the summer but I do want to spend one day a week doing an art project with my kids that relates to a fun theme such as: space, dinosaurs, nature.....  I hope to be able to share some of our fun summer projects with you.

Thanks for checking in.... now go make a chevron print painting!  Here are two more of mine.  You can do it too!

  1. I am sooooo excited about doing my own chevron painting!!! Ever since doing the online art class with my daughter, I've been itching to do some artwork myself, but I feel like I don't even know where to start. Well now I do! You really are so great at explaining the different steps and going over supplies, etc - I hope you continue to come up with more great projects for both kids and adults! Thanks again Dani!

  2. Dani, I love your chevron paintings. You always have great ideas. I just read that the chevron design (an inverted V) has been found on ancient pottery and rock formations dating back to 1800 BC. I'm excited to make my own painting using the chevron design. I'll check out your segment on Studio 5. Thanks Dani!

  3. I commented elsewhere but wanted to thank you again for sharing your online course and your ideas and opinions on materials.

As a child I loved drawing and painting and was selected to be in an art club in elementary school that I loved. Somewhere along the way I forgot all of this. Now that I have three of my own who all seem to love the little art projects I have given them, I have been looking for a way to make sure that I encourage their creativity on a regular basis.

Between working full time and volunteer commitments I have felt challenged to find the time to plan new projects that would challenge them and myself. Now you have done the planning for me!

I bought the pdf and we are going to do the course over the summer and finish with a backyard art show! I am also going to encourage some of my friends to get the course so we can maybe do one big show with all of our kids. I am going to start collecting my Michaels coupons to boost our supplies before school lets out in June.

I look forward to seeing your summer ideas and any future ebooks.

    Thanks again for the inspiration!

  4. Hi Dani,

I'm new(ish) to your blog and really enjoy your style, thank you! I've got lots of started projects and I'm wondering about how long you think it might take for the uber-beginner to create a masterpiece like your gray/white sample? I'm hoping this one might have the potential of being a finisher ;-)

    Thanks,
    Rebecca

  6. Dani, I just stumbled across your blog the other day and found your green/multicolored chevron painting. I love it! Its just the kind of art my husband and I are looking to put in our home. So my question to you, is it for sale?
