Large Georgia O'Keeffe Flower

After reading your comments I realized you might want more information about the Georgia O'Keeffe flower paintings..... they make great mother's day gifts!

This is an excerpt from my PDF about this project...

Large Georgia O’Keeffe Flower:  To make a Georgia O’Keeffe flower painting you will need a canvas panel (or surface of your choice), paintbrushes, a pencil, acrylic paint, water for rinsing brushes, a paper towel for drying brushes, and gloves for safety.  Have your child look at Georgia O’Keeffe’s flowers and notice how they are so big that they fill up the entire canvas and even extend beyond the borders of the canvas.  Paint the canvas a solid base color and allow it to dry.  Ask your child to draw a large flower on the canvas that fills up the entire canvas.  If you think your child may need help with drawing the flower that big then have he/she draw a flower on a piece of paper and then you can draw a replica of their flower onto the canvas for them.  Next, paint the flower!  My son painted the canvas white and then added some dots and outlined the flower with light blue paint.  I think it turned out great!  I will be going into my son’s Kindergarten class during the week before Mother’s Day and we will be making these paintings.  I can’t wait to see all the different flowers the kids paint!
